BookFolder • FAQ and support information
Frequently Asked Questions (With Answers!)
- What devices are supported?
- BookFolder will run on any iPad or iPhone that is able to run a supported version of iOS.
- What versions of iOS are supported?
- BookFolder requires iOS 14 or later.
- What languages does it support?
- BookFolder should be able to display any PDF regardless of language, and you’re able to name your books and folders in any language supported by the system. (You can give every folder a name entirely in emoji, if you like!) BookFolder itself—the user interface of buttons, pop-up alerts, etc.—is only in English at this time.
- I tried searching for text in a book, but no results showed up (or only garbled or incomplete results), even though I see text in the file!
- You probably have a PDF that was produced from scanned printed matter, where pages are embedded as image data without including any searchable text data in the file. This is especially common with scanned books, magazines, or other archival content, where materials are scanned and converted to PDF without being run through OCR (optical character recognition) software (or where the scanned images are too rough for OCR to work well).
- Why is the Table of Contents button disabled for this book?
- A PDF’s author has the option of including a specially formatted table of contents (or index) when creating the file. (This is an internal data structure separate from the human-readable pages that you see in the book.) If no such table is present in a file, BookFolder will disable (grey out) the button.
